HAPPY NEW YEAR and check out this Date in the Dark Excerpt! (Novella only .99!)

Kelly nods. “Right, right. Oh, hey, look what I found on the bulletin board over there.” She beams at me as if she’s forgotten she’s feeling ill and pulls a piece of paper from her purse.

My eyes flash to the black flyer with bold, white type that she dangles in front of my face. I grab it from her hand and read it.

Date in the Dark
Meet your mystery date with only five minutes to spare!
December 29, 30, and 31

Don’t have a date and think fate can bring you and your perfect match together? Come to the Blind Date at 7 p.m. all three nights! Enhance your senses and dine in the dark with the same person of the preferred sex. On the final evening, New Year’s Eve, at 11:55, the lights come on to reveal the mystery.

Take a chance. You never know…you may find THE ONE.

I blink a few times and read the flyer again before looking up. I really need that coffee. Pronto. I’m losing it. Each time my eyes see the words “Date in the Dark,” I read that my best friend wants me to date a complete stranger in total darkness, and that can’t be right.

“Do you feel okay?” I ask, concern filling my eyes.

“Ha ha, I’m fine. Stop looking at me like I’ve gone mad and just think of how romantic it could be.” She closes her eyes and smiles.

“It’s probably a fake flyer. No one with half a brain would partake in something like this.” I rest my hands on her shoulders and look her in the eyes. “How much did you drink last night?”

She snatches the flyer, shrugs off my hand, and crosses her arms. “Not that much, and we are totally doing this.” Instantly, her face beams with a smile that has “pretty please” written all over it.

I sigh as we step forward. She can’t be serious. I’ve heard of these places where you dine in the dark. You’re not able to see a single thing while you eat, and that doesn’t sound like fun for me. A giant mess full of embarrassing moments is what it sounds like. I picture more food in my lap or on the floor than actually making it in my mouth.

“It sounds like a setup for some crazy, psycho killer.” I shake my head. “Hey, I know how to kill a bunch of people at once. Tell them they’re going to find love and put them in a dark room.”

“If you showed any interest in finding a date for New Year’s Eve, I might let up, but you haven’t, so this is it. This is what we’re going to do. Unless…” She grins.

“No, don’t even say it.” I hold up my hand and look away. “Real life doesn’t turn out like the books we read, Kelly. I’m not going to fall madly in love with Parker; I can’t even stand him.”

date-in-the-dark-new

Blind dates are bad, but a blind date-in-the-dark is just asking for an interesting time.

Three dates and three nights spent in total darkness is not how Allie or Parker had planned to ring in the New Year. But when fate steps in, these young coeds soon find themselves drawn to each other.

A kiss is only the beginning

Ethan moves his knee between my legs and rubs against me. A moan comes from inside me, fueling his hunger even more. A hand slips under my shirt, snapping me back to attention. I break the kiss.

“Ethan.”

“I can’t let you go back out there dressed the way you are because I won’t be able to keep my eyes or hands off of you. And if I won’t be able to do it, no other man out there will either. I don’t feel like getting in a fight tonight, Kelsey.”

What’s Next?

Hey Everyone,

I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me (in a blog post at least) but even with that as the case, I didn’t forget about any of you.

On that note, let’s play a little catch up.

Since Just One Spark released a lot has happened. I took the summer off to regroup and spend time with family, friends, and my husband. Grant (The Hubby) and I decided we are going to get a new house … real geniuses we are (say with sarcasm) and it’s very time consuming. However, it is in progress and we should moving in by February.

Although, at this time, I don’t know when the next release will be, I haven’t stopped writing. I have a new book that isn’t part of the Black Alcove series fully written. I’m trying a new route with this book, so as soon as I get feedback, I’ll let you know what my plans are to release it.

I began writing another new story. My first YA Romance. The plotting is about 80% complete. Between the plot line and what I already have written, it’s going to be amazing.

Although I am enjoying stepping outside of my box with these new novels, the light, funny, and feel good love stories will always be my favorite. With that in mind … I started writing another story. It’s another NA Romance and already so adorable, but also sexy. Never forget the sexy.

I also plan to finish the Holiday Novella I started over the summer.

The big question … when will Abby’s book (the final book in the Black Alcove series) come out?

The answer … it’s still plotted. I’ve added to the plot and I’ve written a few scenes. The three books I mentioned above will be done before hers. It’s not that I don’t want to write her story because I do. Lately, I’ve just been enjoying the change these other books have brought me. It will release in 2018 for sure though, even if it the very last day of the year. That I can promise.

I’ve also been enjoying the distractions. Game of Thrones. Books by Samantha Young, Emma Chase, Abbi Glines, and Rachel Van Dyken also easily gain my attention and distract me from my GOT distraction 🙂

Feel free to post more questions for me and you can always reach me through Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Till next time and remember, love never comes with a warning!

~ Jami  ~

JUST ONE KISS: A first kiss is hard to forget—and Kelsey Brian’s just walked into the bar where she works and isn’t planning to leave anytime soon. It figures. With her last semester of college finally here, Kelsey can’t wait to finish the year smoothly and start a new chapter. She doesn’t need to drive over yet another bump in the road.

Ethan Connelly has spent most of his adult life trying to be accepted by his father, and now he has the chance to make him proud. He’s also just stepped into another chance with the girl who got away. Deciding who matters most to him isn’t an easy choice. If he picks his father, he’ll lose her again—if he picks her, everything he’s worked for will be for nothing.

JUST ONE NIGHT: Sara and Logan have always known their relationship was different because they were never very good at the “just friends” thing. They’re finally ready to embrace a deeper side—but are they ready for big-time problems?

JUST ONE TOUCH: Secrets … they’re risky business.

Conner Brian was kept in the dark about being a father, so he isn’t a fan of people who aren’t truthful. Alexis Parker has finally taken a leap of faith to meet her brother. When Alexis moves into the apartment across from Conner, they both soon realize how pieces of their own lives affect the other. But even though their connection feels real, some things are better left unshared.

JUST ONE MOMENT: Skylar Atwood wants to find herself. After years of everyone making choices for her, she’s finally on her own, determined to make any and every decision she can. But being homeless and then accused of breaking and entering isn’t how her new life was supposed to go.

It’s been a year, and Luke Warren isn’t handling his father’s death very well. As the only man of the house now, Luke takes on the role as a provider for his mother and sisters. Working extra hours to help his mom pay the bills and sacrificing all his free time is beginning to take its toll on him. Until he knows they’ll be okay, he won’t quit. Not even vandalism to his family’s bookstore will stop him.

Despite the fact Luke blames Skylar for everything going wrong in his life and Skylar thinks Luke’s the most uptight jerk she’s ever met, the two can’t stop the attraction that continues to draw them together. Giving in to their feelings is the easy part, but one moment can ruin everything. Luke can’t change his past, but his future won’t be the same if Skylar isn’t in it.

JUST ONE SPARK: All Beth Moyer wanted was a one-night stand, an evening to relax and cut loose before she went to work at her new grown-up job. Instead, all she got was a few minutes that left her mortified and another reason why you can never trust a man.

Maverick Mitchell is ready to prove he’s learned from his mistakes and move forward. But before it’s time to buckle down, one last fling won’t hurt. Or so he thought. On the first day of his new start, the feisty redhead he met over the weekend is the first person he sees.

An office romance isn’t the smartest idea. Sneaking around is an even worse one, but neither can deny the fire that has sparked between them. Considering Beth and Maverick are competing for the same position and only one will be offered the job, they can only hope that every choice they’ve made doesn’t end up in flames.
