When did you start writing?


Why do you write?

I write because I want to make others feel the way books have made me feel. They’ve given me hope, courage, dreams. I want to do that for someone else.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Everything around me.

Do you have a favorite place to write or can you write anywhere?

As long as my mind isn’t distracted by my real life, I can write just about anywhere. If I had to choose, I would prefer my house.

How did you decide you wanted to publish?

Why not? Millions of people enjoy reading. I could be one more option for them.

How did you decide whether you wanted to publish with a company or self-publish?

Self publishing gives me endless options. I love knowing I can do anything I want for my readers.

When was your first book published and which one was it?

May 2015 and the title is DATE IN THE DARK.

What is your favorite book so far that you have written?

I love all my books, but whatever book I am currently writing is usually my favorite. In my head, they keep getting better and better so I love all my new stories!

How long does it take you to write a book?

Since I don’t have everything down to perfection yet. It takes me longer than most people. Around 4-6 months.

Have you ever had a book declined by a publisher? If yes, what made you keep going?

Yes, many times. What might not be right for one publisher, might be perfect for another. It’s a standard response, but a true fact.

So far, what book has been the hardest to write? Why?

I used to think the first book in the Black Alcove series was the hardest because it would determine if a reader kept reading. But now, I think the latest book is the hardest to write because I want to write a book that keeps my readers wanting more and more no matter if it’s a series or not.

Of all the authors and books out there, which one is your favorite?

I have so many to choose from!

If you could give any advice to an aspiring author, what would it be?

If this is your dream, don’t give up.  Any dream takes hard work and dedication. Rejection can only make you stronger.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Vanilla or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

What is your favorite type of vacation?

One where the cell phones, computers, and all other technology don’t come with you. A place with a beach, a book, and my husband. If that place lets me bring my dog for free and they will pamper him and give him spa days and treats unlimited, he will come.

What is your favorite thing to do in Vegas?

Vegas … get dressed up and go out.

What is your favorite television drama?

Right now, QUANTICO has my full attention. I also DVR The Arraignment. Big Little Lies is a must watch. I netflix a lot … Gossip Girl, Reign, Vampire Diaries, Graceland, Chasing Life, SOA, and Revenge. The list could go on!

Samantha Young, K. A. Tucker, Cassia Leo, Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, Jamie McGuire, Mary Billiter, and Dana Volney. I have more, but these ones are amazing!
